In South Australia you must hold a current Motor Driving Instructor's (MDI) Licence to teach for a fee. To be eligible you generally need:

An unconditional driver's licence held for the qualifying period
Certificate IV in Motor Vehicle Driver Training (TLI41225)
To be medically fit and a "fit and proper" person (national police check)
A vehicle with dual brake controls, meeting safety standards (cameras & GPS are being phased in)
